Champions 2 Euro 2008 Walkthrough
Champions 2 Euro 2008 is an entertaining soccer game in which you can choose your favorite team and do everything you can to make it all the way to the finals to become the top team for 2008. Sure it's a little dated, but the year really doesn't matter. What matters here is how much fun this game is. With four groups made up of sixteen different teams in total, you're sure to be able to find a team you want to take all the way. Doing that isn't really all that easy those. This is definitely one of the more difficult soccer games online for newcomers simply because you need to control all of the players on your team depending on who is closest to the ball. Add to that the fact that it can be a bit difficult to get the hang of the game controls and you have a fairly complicated game. More experienced soccer game players likely aren't going to find this one as challenging as a beginner but will still find it offers enough of a challenge to stay interesting. It's important to remember, though, that this game is fairly different from most of the other soccer games online. It isn't all about aiming and shooting. You need to pass between teammates as well as avoiding letting the other team get the ball. Not an easy feat, but one that will definitely keep you playing.
The goal of Champions 2 Euro 2008 is really no different than the goal in most of the other soccer games online, even if the way you go about trying to achieve that goal is a bit different. You need to get as many points as you can by getting your ball past the opposing team's goalie. While in most of the other soccer games online, this basically just means using the mouse to aim and shoot, in this one, you'll actually need to run the field and contend with the opposing team. As you play, you'll see an arrow above your active player's head. That arrow will move from player to player depending on who is closest to the ball. If you want to do well in this game and have a shot at winning, you need to pay attention to where that arrow is. Always make sure you know who the active player is so you can control them the way you should be controlling them. Although it might seem like that goes without saying, that can be hard to do in this game. The active player can change fairly quickly and if you don't pay attention to what's happening, you may find yourself wasting time trying to control the wrong player. In some cases, that can mean moving the active player further away from the ball and giving your opposing team the time they need to make a run for your net. You definitely don't want that.
One of the best things about Champions 2 Euro 2008 is that you are shown a replay of the play after each goal. If the other team scored a goal on you, this gives you the chance to see where you went wrong and improve your strategy for the next time. Simply put, knowing who the active player is isn't always enough to keep you in the game. You need to have a decent strategy and you need to be able to not only know which player you are controlling but the best way to control them in any given situation. Your strategy is something you will develop on your own. What works for one person will not necessarily work for another. If you have weaknesses in a particular area of the game, build a strategy that covers those weak areas. Above all else, use the replays to see where you're going wrong. Sometimes your mistakes won't be obvious right away, but look for a pattern as you play. Even if you don't do well your first few times playing, you will improve in time. Give the game a chance and make use of those replays and you should be able to do fairly well. More experienced soccer game players likely won't have much use for the replays so the fact that you're able to skip the replays should you decide to makes the game even more appealing.
Overall, Champions 2 Euro 2008 isn't an easy game for newcomers or experienced online soccer game players alike. It will be much easier for someone who has a little bit of experience with this sort of game though but that doesn't mean newcomers won't have a good time playing. Stick with it and you will improve; even if it does take a while. The controls are pretty basic, but it will likely take a few tries to get the hang of them if you're mostly used to mouse controlled soccer games. It's worth taking the time to get used to the game though. It's a lot of fun and will keep you entertaining. There is plenty to do in the game but after a few rounds it can get a little on the dull side. This probably won't be a soccer game you come back to time and time again, but it is a great game for killing a little time with. Try not to get frustrated and stick with it. If you consider yourself a fan of soccer games or sports game, you should definitely give this one a shot.
