New Star Soccer is a soccer game where you portray a rookie footballer on his quest to become a star of the sport. This sports game features simple graphics, mouse-only controls, and two modes of gameplay.

The two modes of gameplay featured in New Star Soccer are Arcade Mode and Career Mode. In Arcade Mode, you will face a variety of challenges. The objective in each is to get the ball into the goal. Each time that you miss the goal, you will lose one of your three lives. Scoring a goal in this mode replenishes one life. When all lives are lost, the game will end.

Career Mode is extensive in this soccer game and begins with a practice session (which is similar to arcade mode challenges). You will have to manage various aspects of your player's life such as nutrition, equipment, and even romance. You can raise rapport with your boss, team, fans, manager, and girlfriend by playing minigames. Additional money can also be earned in casino minigames. Do not waste too much energy on these minigames, however, because you will need to be in peak condition in order to hit the field!

Much of what happens on the soccer field is not determined by your actions, but rather algorithms that run behind the scenes, especially in the beginning of Career Mode. You will often have chances to pass the ball to teammates, but they may not always score. If you are placed on the bench, you will have no effect on gameplay whatsoever, and will have to sit back and read reports of how the game is progressing. The lack of interaction makes Career Mode a bit dull at times, but if you enjoy life simulator games with a splash of soccer action, then you may appreciate career mode.

New Star Soccer is a challenging and entertaining soccer game. Arcade Mode is great for passing the time and practicing your skills in the game, while Career Mode is great for fans of life simulation games!
