Paul the Octopus Walkthrough
Paul the Octopus (January 26, 2008 - October 26, 2010) was an octopus that lived in a tank at the Sea Life Centre in Oberhausen, Germany. Paul is famous for correctly predicting the winner of each of Germany's seven matches in the 2010 World Cup and the winner of the final round based on his feeding behavior. Unfortunately, Paul is no longer with us, but you can see how well you would fill his role in this Flash game!
In Paul the Octopus, you will be presented with the flags of two nations. Click on the flag that represents the team that you think would win in a soccer match. Paul will then swim down to the actual winner. If you are correct, you will advance to the next round and be treated with a cute animation such as Paul spiking a soccer ball or blowing a vuvuzela. If you are incorrect, it's game over!
Paul the Octopus is a cute homage to the real Paul, but it is not based on actual statistics of prior games. You must guess which team would win. There may be some underlying statistics that were used in the production of this soccer game, but they are not known to the player. This is compounded by the fact that you cannot memorize who wins; the scores are different every time, making the game seem totally random. Luck is more effective than actual knowledge in this game.
Paul the Octopus is a fun game to play when there is nobody to argue with over who would win a fantasy soccer match, but it is probably better for fans of the sport to go to the local pub and discuss the issue with other patrons. On the bright side, at least you can stay sober and avoid bar fights playing this soccer game!
