Soccer Balls Instructions

The controls of Soccer Balls is as easy as it could get. Assuming a game play like that of Gunbound and other turn based fighting games, you need to use your mouse for almost everything in this game - hitting that referee with that soccer ball, replaying a level to get the maximum score, moving to the next level, and everything else in between. To adjust the angle of your shot, move the mouse upwards. To tweak the strength or power of your kick, you need to move your mouse sidewards. Don't worry if you don't get what I'm talking about. When you play the game, there are graphics indicators showing (1) the trajectory of your ball when it's kicked and (2) the power of your kick, and more. Now that we're done with the controls, let's take a closer look at the game...

A soccer game developed by Turbo Nuke and published by Kongregate (one of my favorite and most reputable game publishers), you are almost guaranteed to have truckloads of fun and entertainment with Soccer Balls. The fact that Kongregate took it and published it is enough reason to check the game out.

Anyway, when you get the game started, you really get this feeling that you are in for some soccer ball kicking action with the images of soccer players, referees, and bouncing soccer ball welcoming you in the game. When you press start, you are even prompted to choose your team. There are 7 available - England, Italy, Brazil (guys from Brazil are die hard soccer fans... this sport is elevated to a religion), Netherlands, Germany, USA, France, and Spain. You take your pick.

Once you have selected your team and pressed start, you are taken to the stage / level select section. Showcasing 36 levels (most are locked by the way), you can bet that this game will surely keep you busy and playing for the hours to come. HOWEVER, checking at the level names (My Grandma, Tiny Hole, Moving The Goal Post, etc.), it somewhat tells you that this is not one of your ordinary or average online soccer games.

Well, upon hitting level 1.. TADDAH! YES, this is not one of your regular soccer games folks. "This isn't Soccer! Hit the Referee to make him angry." That's what the opening level says. Nah, this is NOT soccer. Instead of landing that ball in the goal, you need to anger the referee. Kick the ball, hit the referee with it, and watch as he turns red with anger and his head drops off. That's the goal.

Not soccer - yes, that's true. Not fun?! Heck NO! This is one of those soccer games (well, soccer-like games to be precise) that had me glued to my seats for a very long time. I mean think about it - it's not everyday that a soccer player can hit the ref with all his might and watch him lose his head. :) Moreover, the challenges you encounter as you progress into the levels will keep your head thinking and spinning. Sometimes, the ref is protected with a bouncy barrier and you need to find your way around it. Sometimes, he's placed somewhere where kicking the ball straight to him won't work.
