The Champions 07 is the first of the Champions series of soccer games. The Champions 07 features catchy music, and challenging gameplay.

The Champions 07 gives you the chance to play as one of two teams: Liverpool or Milan. The team that you choose to play as does not have an effect upon the gameplay of this soccer game and is purely aesthetic. Your objective in this soccer game is to score as many goals as possible against the other team while preventing your opponents from doing the same to you. The game is broken into two forty-five second halves and the teams switch positions on the field after the first half. Unlike the sequels of this soccer game, only one match is played.

Each team fields four players in The Champions 07. You will always control the player on your team that is closest to the ball or in possession of the ball with the exception of the goalkeeper. Goalkeeping is handled automatically by the AI in this soccer game. When passing, it should be noted that you will always pass to your nearest teammate. Unfortunately, you cannot choose to pass to other players. For this reason, I felt that passing was not very useful in this soccer game.

In order to score easily in The Champions 07, it is best to shoot from the corner of your opponent's penalty area to the opposite corner of your opponents goal is your best bet. The AI's goalkeeping skills are a bit lacking compared to this soccer game's sequels, so you should be able to rack up goals easily. Keep in mind that lax goalkeeping also applies to your team as well, so you should be ready to play a good field defense to prevent your opponents from scoring against you!

The Champions 07 is a decent soccer game, but there is a bug with the game's camera that will sometimes occur after a goal attempt hits the side of a goal. The camera will fail to follow the ball and will shake rapidly. If this occurs, the game will return to normal after another goal is scored or the current half ends. If you don't want to run the risk of having the computer score against you or it is too long of a wait for the half to end, you will have to refresh your browser.
